My father, sister and a family friend wanted to come visit me in Moscow. It would be the first commercial flight of my fathers life, he even had to get a passport to come.
They arrived no problem on May 7. They kind of took it easy for a couple of days until the main event on May 9.
Every year on May 9 Russia celebrates victory day to commemorate the end of WWII
First we had to walk around just to waste time.
This is a pedestrian bridge near Kievskaya Metro
A sculpture on Old Arbat
Then the parade. We were standing at the end of the parade route because its usually the least crowded
From left to right Anna, Charlotte (my sister), and Alan (my dad)
Needless to say they were thoroughly impressed with the display of tanks and missile launchers
After the parade we headed for the train station.
We were headed for Tver to visit Okcana and so they could see how people live outside of Moscow.
First time taking a train ride even if was just an old Electrichka
That evening we all went sight seeing in Tver and just relaxed and ate!
The next day was a treat. In Kansas we rarely have sauna's and most have never heard of a Banya.
So it was time to experience the Banya!
Now the cold water
We all had a tea and went home
First stop though dinner!
This is the little car we all managed to pile into
Then it was back to the train station!
