I woke up feeling a bit better still not 100%
I drove something about 100 miles to get closer to Le Mans.
Mostly through small back roads. I always heard and read about the hedgerows in Normandy and how it would take days to clear the Germans from them. Finally I found some and understood why!
You could see nothing through them I couldn't imagine thinking and knowing people were hiding in them waiting to shoot.
Then I made it to the coast and followed it down
I didnt have far to go and since I was still a little under the weather I stopped often for rests
It was a nice road with great scenery I couldn't complain about anything in the world!
I found a shopping complex to get some shopping I had wanted to do done. and then found little hotel for the day.
Feeling a bit better but still lacking. Its not bad enough to keep me in the room but I fell stupid constantly wiping my nose and trying to get my ears to pop. But like I said its much much better. I hope in 2 days should be good to go.
Now my debate is when to get to the race track, Le Mans! I am thinking Wendesday evening sounds good. Until then I have to see what kind of trouble I can scrounge up.
If anyone every thought about visiting the D-Day landings I think after almost a week wondering around there that it is worth it.
Though I wouldnt recommend during the anniversary. There are 5 times as many people as normal. I think 20 years ago when alot of the veterans were around and attending it would have been worth it but sadly not many are around let alone making the voyage there.
Really the entertainment during the anniversary was strange to me. Alot of people running around dressed up in WWII uniforms and ALOT of "Americana" everywhere. The strange part was alot of people couldnt speak English so it was strange to see someone with a cool car or bike and approach them but no sorry French. I hadnt experienced something like it before. If you want to see a ton, and I mean a ton, of vintage Jeeps go during the anniversary.
