Switzerland and The Matterhorn

We headed out with the goal to camp near the Matterhorn.
The road was good, as far as the surface goes. The people on the road are another thing though. Thousands of bikes we saw today.

An old bride we stopped at

The new bridge

I dont know what it is but you put bikers on a road and add a few curves and 75% of them all of a sudden become Valentino Rossi.

Gawd it was horribly. These guys would be passing people cutting people off and in general just driving dangerously all to get to the top of the pass then stop. I came up on a hair pin curve, one you couldnt see around, just as I got there a bike appeared in my lane trying to pass someone in the opposite direction. I had no where to go mountain on my right and the car on my left. He dove in front of the car as I felt the wind off his bike rush by.

The Roads

Two years ago when I attended a moto meeting in Dresden someone there told me I was absolutely horrible on anything but a straight road, I think he even used the words you suck. That has stuck with me for these 2 years and today at first I tried really hard to pick up my speed and just get better at taking these turns.

I found when, at first, i was trying to push harder and harder I didnt pay attention to anything but the road. Then add in the other drivers all trying to race up the pass I decided it was better to be in defensive mode. I figure I might not be the best at cornering but I go to the end of my comfort level and from there I might try to push a little more once in a while but more importantly I enjoy my riding. I didnt come to Switzerland to race up a pass stop drink coffee and race down. I came to see the country and relax.

There it is the legendary Matterhorn. We got to a campsite not far from there and went to see The Matterhorn this evening!
