Sofia Park, Uman, Ukraine

Go to work at 3:00 AM so I can leave at noon.... Its going to be a long day!

I first picked up Lina, you might remember her from previous adventures WWII Bunkers on the Stalin Line Kiev, Ukraine . She wanted to come along as far as Uman mainly to see the very famous park there.

The drive to Uman wasnt bad the road was more or less good. We ran into a couple showers but it was isolated so we were able to keep going and get out of the rain quickly.

Finally we made it to Uman and found our hotel for the night. It was located right in the park and cost about $20.00 a night.

The park itself was founded in the late 1700's by some Polish guy and dedicated to his wife, I cant imagine how badly he must of messed up to need to dedicate a park like this to his wife... The park is around 1 sq. mile (1.67 sp. KM) and comprises over 2,000 types of trees and plants. Not to mention all the buildings and waterfalls in the park. Needless to say it is breathtaking.

One of the pagoda with a fountain in the back ground.

One of the numerous ponds you can walk around

You cant see it all but there is a big waterfall just behind the statue.

The Fountain from before

We were starving so found a place that had shashlik and some beer!

We walked around the park for about 2.5 hours. In that amount of time we saw maybe a quarter of it...... Needless to say I will be back to this park in the future!
