When I woke up the next day I felt horrible. Sore throat and my head was ready to explode. I figured I had the beginnings of a cold. I found some medicine I brought with me, from Russia, that was given to me just prior to departure with the English translation of what it cures. There was a random assortment that said things like for butt, digestive, head hurts and finally the one for cold. I took one and decided I wanted some tea. I had brought a little gas fired camp stove with me but hadn’t used it yet. I read the instructions and fired it up and a 2 foot ball of flame came out. As I am panicking I read again that the flame is normal at start up. It died down and I made some ramen and tea!
The weather was overcast but not to cold so I headed back south to Somme to check out some WWI sites.
Peronne
They had a real nice museum in Perrone, France I went through. They said each year over 100,000 pounds of live shells and Ammo are dug up in the area of the Somme battles!!! That’s a long time for that stuff to be buried.
I stopped at a British Cemetery and cruised down some country lanes headed back north towards the coast again.
I found a little place to camp, set up the tent, and passed out. I woke up at about 3 am to a hellish storm and a lot of rain and high winds. I hurried and staked down the ten better but never did fall back asleep.
