After Budapest we headed north to Bratislava the capitol of Slovakia
It has been hot the last few days. We found a place to stay, with no AC but what can you do.
We walked around the city a bit
Some statues in a park behind the presidents house
A church but everything you see was painted. It was like a 3d painting inside instead of actual cupolas and what not it was just painted to look like it was there
Man at work.
Their Famous Bridge
Old town
Upside pyramid..... Ya soviet architecture go figure.
Monument to WWII on the hill we would climb soon enough
We woke up early to beat the heat and climbed up the hill to check out the monument to the Soviet Soldiers who liberated the city.
It was in remarkably good shape.
A nice overlook on the city
I believe there were a little over 6000 men there. There was a list of names with birth and death dates. I noticed by this stage in the war a lot of the men the Soviet Union was loosing were older 40+. I would say a good 50% of them were older
We made our way over to the Bratislava castle
It was on another hill so more views of the city
The castle was rebuilt in the 50's
still with renovations and additions going on
The top of St.Martens Church
After that we walked around the city some more. We weren't aware when we came but we are here on a holiday for Slovakia so a lot of things aren't open....
Bratislava has been nice. Its probably the quietest and most laid back capitol city I have been to. Its been fun for a couple days but time to move on.
We have a MotoGP race to see next weekend! hopefully if we can figure out how to either print our tickets or go to the track to pick them up.
